ARMY COMMENCES MILITARY EXERCISE IN IMO AHEAD OF YULETIDE

The Nigerian Army says it will continue to conduct internal security operations and exercises to combat criminal activies bedevelling the country.

The Commander 34 Artillery Brigade Obinze, Brigadier General Sani Suleiman, gave the assurance at this year’s launch of Exercise of Golden Dawn II at Army Operational Center Orlu, Imo State.

The essence of the military operation is to boost security in the area and other parts of Imo State during the yuletide.

Brigadier General Suleiman further said that relative peace was achieved last year in Imo State and its environs following the introduction of the military operation in area.

He expressed the hope that this year’s exercise would be an improvement on the maiden edition.

The Brigadier General said the Exercise would last from October 4, 2022 to 4 January 2023.

Speaking at the event, Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, said that it was necessary to put security measures in place to have uninterrupted celebrations.

Governor Uzodimma appealed to those involved in any form of criminal activities in the state to have a rethink.

Governor Uzodimma assured security agencies of his administration’s support to carry out their constitutional obligation to the people.
