LANDSLIDE: FG RELEASES #1.5BN ECOLOGICAL FUND TO EBONYI STATE GOVT

The Presidency has released one-point-five billion Naira Ecological Fund for the reconstruction of the area affected by landslide in Ogwuma Community, Afikpo South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
The State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Uchenna Orji, stated this while briefing journalists on the outcome of this week’s State Executive Council meeting in Abakaliki.
Mr. Orji explained that the Council also released additional one billion Naira from illegal deductions from Excess crude account for the same landslide site reconstruction.
He noted that the council revoked the Certificate of Occupancy of the affected area and acquired same to facilitate the take off of the project.
Mr. Orji said the Council approved the suspension of the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Power and the Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Utilities over street light diesel theft, noting that the Directorate of Security Services (DSS) had been directed to investigate all staff of the Ministry of Power connected with the operation of street light.
