SHOCK, SADNESS AS ANAMBRA ASSEMBLY LOSES MAJORITY LEADER

REPORTER: UCHE NDEKE

Residents and social media users in Anambra State have continued to express shock over the sudden death of the Majority Leader of the State House of Assembly, Dr. Nnamdi Okafor.

Dr. Okafor was the member representing Awka South Constituency 1 and one of the ranking members of the House.

He was reported to have collapsed in the early hours of Tuesday in a hotel at Standton City, Johannesburg, South Africa and was confirmed dead hours later.

The report however said that the cause of his death is yet to be ascertained.

The information threw his constituents and other citizens into great confusion as they await more details.

While some described his death as a sad and shocking development, others prayed God to have mercy on him and grant his soul eternal rest.

The Anambra State House of Assembly about two months ago buried the member representing Aguata Constituency 1, Mr. Okechukwu Okoye, who was killed by unknown gunmen.

This brings to four the number of deaths recorded by the legislative arm in the sixth and present seventh assembly following the earlier incidents involving Mr. Francis Mmegbuanaeze and Patrick Aniuno.
