EBONYI NYSC COORDINATOR PROMISES TO EMPOWER CORPS MEMBERS WITH BIZ PLAN

REPORTER: AMECHI ODO

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has extended the service year of nine 2021 Batch B Stream Two corps members for committing sundry offences during their service year in Ebonyi State.

The State Coordinator of the Scheme, Mrs. Bamai Mercy, announced this during the passing out ceremony of the Batch in Abakaliki.

Mrs. Mercy explained that of four hundred and twenty-eight corps members that passed out, thirteen absconded while the rest served their father land meritoriously.

She charged the outgone corps members not to wait for white collar jobs but establish small businesses, noting that the National Youth Service Corps was ready to facilitate micro credit facilities for such ventures.

‘’If you need money to start up your business, come to NYSC, let us know the skill you have acquired and write your beautiful business plan and then you will be established.

‘’Don’t go and be at the mercy of people there or over burden your parents, start small, keep growing,’’ she admonished.

Mrs. Mercy urged the out gone corps members to be good ambassadors of NYSC.

She discourage youths, especially those involved in internet fraud from engaging in such crimes.

‘’Be good Ambassadors of your families, do not tarnish the name of your family, as you go out there show that you are leaders. There are other youths there, some are into yahoo, go out and discourage them,’’ she advised.

Some of the corps members said their service year was self fulfilling but described the welfare provision by corps employers in the state as discouraging.
