SOLUDO RELAUNCHES MONTHLY SANITATION
REPORTER: BEN ILECHUKWU
Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has re-launched the monthly Sanitation in the state.
This is part of his administration’s measures to achieve a clean, green and liveable homeland.
Governor Soludo while relaunching the programme at the popular Eke Awka Market, said that the exercise was part of his administration’s resolve to bringing back the national monthly ‘clean-up’ with greater vigour.
Professor Soludo called for a thorough sanitation across the 21 local government areas of the state, saying that 31 contractors had been designated with the job of carting the wastes from house to house in the area.
The State Governor, who expressed delight at the turnout of people who participated in the exercise, appealed to them to join hands with his administration in keeping Anambra State clean, in line with the saying that “cleaniless is next to Godliness.”
While noting that plans were underway to beautify Ziks Avenue and the decongest Eke Awka market, the Governor charged traders in the market and other markets to bag their dirts and dispose them in designated areas.
He, however, expressed his displeasure with some traders, who displayed their wares on the roads.
In a speech, the Chairman of Eke Awka Market, Chief Jude Agummadu, lauded the Governor for his initiative, assuring him of his maximum support in keeping the markets clean and healthy.
