SECURITY FORCES KILL TWO ROBBERY SUSPECTS IN ANAMBRA

A joint security force in Anambra State comprising has neutralized two gunmen and recovered four automatic pump action guns.

Also recovered were one cutlass, one ash color Lexus SUV 350 with reg. nos KJA- 666HE and four motorcycles without number plates.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Anambra State, Mr. Tochukwu Ikenga, who made this in a statement in Awka noted that the joint operation involved the military and the police.

According to the statement, the recovery followed a distress call at about 9:30am on Sunday on Onitsha/Owerri expressway junction leading to Nkwo Market Okija, where some hoodlums blocked the road and were robbing and extorting motorists.

The statement said that the Joint Forces responded swiftly and engaged the hoodlums in a gun duel, neutralized one of the armed men while others escaped the scene with bullet wounds.

In another development, the statement noted that police operatives at about 3:30pm same yesterday (Sunday), while on clearance operation attacked another criminal gang at Nkwo Market Okija, that were harassing traders and their customers, including residents of the area.

The statement said that the policemen neutralized of the members of the gang while others fled the scene.

It indicted that two automatic pump action guns and one marchet were recovered from the gang.

The statement further noted that operation was still ongoing to apprehend the other fleeing gang members.

The statement said that the Commissioner Of Police, Mr. Echeng Echeng, while charging the operatives to sustain the tempo against onslaught on criminal elements, ordered patrols to be intensified and improved operational positioning to respond to distress calls in the State.
