ABIA FORMULATES INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT DOCUMENT

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has received an Industrial Policy Document formulated with the aim of driving industrial revolution of Nigeria.

Receiving the Industrial Policy Document from the ECOWAS representative of the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) at the Government House, Umuahia, Governor Ikpeazu said the document was the third of such documents developed by the present administration to improve the economy of the state.

He noted that Abia State had no master plan for Aba, Umuahia and Ohafia, stressing that lack of understanding of basic issues around problems government seeks to tackle is the the bane of development of government organisations.

The Governor, who thanked the UNIDO Representative for partnering the State, appreciated the milestone achieved and congratulated the State Ministry of Industry, Promotion and Development for her resilience in achieving the feat.

Speaking earlier, the Commissioner for Industry, Promotion and Development, Mrs. Uloma Olewengwa, also commended UNIDO for supporting in formulating the document for the state.

Presenting the Industrial Policy document to the Governor,
the ECOWAS Representative of the UNIDO, Mr. Jean Bakole, said the policy is a key to economic development of the state, saying that Abia could not be ignored whenever issues of industrial sector and development were discussed.

He said the document would assist the state in changing the narratives of state industrial developments and stressed the need for governments to strengthen the capacity of investments in their states.

The UNIDO representative urged the Governor to ensure the full implementation and utilisation of the document.
