NPC CHAIRMAN MONITORS TRIAL CENSUS IN ANAMBRA

The Trial Census Enumeration has commenced in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Speaking at Alor, one of the seven communities in the area, while monitoring the exercise, the Executive Chairman of the National Population Commission, (NPC), Mr. Nasir Isa Kwarra, pledged to conduct a reliable census in 2023.

The Trial Census will last from Wednesday 20 to Sunday 24 July in select Enumeration Areas, Supervisory Areas and six local governments across the country.

Mr. Nasir Kwarra, who monitored the exercise with a team from the commission’s headquarters and the South East zone, noted that it would be conducted scientifically.

He assured the masses that NPC would not give room to the manipulation of census figures.

The NPC boss explained that the efforts of the commission were geared towards the generation of reliable data to enhance the transformation of the country.

Mr. Kwarra stressed that Anambra State was important in its plans, hence the decision to start the programme in the area.

In a remark, the Federal Commissioner Representing Anambra State in the commission, Mr. Chidi Ezeoke, expressed happiness to Mr. Kwarra for choosing the state to launch the Trial Census.

Contributing, the President General of Alor Community, Chief Uzoma Igbonwa, pledged to collaborate with the commission to ensure a hitch free exercise and provision of security for the ad-hoc personnel and materials during the programme.

Highlights of the event were the presentation of a plaque by the Traditional Ruler of Alor, Igwe Collins Chukwumesili, to the Executive Chairman of NPC.
