NEW NSCDC BOSS READS RIOT ACT TO CRIMINAL IN IMO

The new Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Imo State, Mr. Mathew Ovie, has warned pipeline vandals and other criminals operating in the area to relocate from the state or face onslaught from his men.

Addressing journalists shortly after assuming office in Owerri, Mr. Ovie said the Command under his watch would take the fight to the criminals.

He explained that the NSCDC had the mandate to protect the nation’s critical infrastructure and gave an assurance that the command would intensify surveillance of assets belonging to various levels of government.

Mr. Ovie said the corps was according priority to capacity building of officers and men of the outfit, noting that the nation would soon witness a reinvigorated civil defence.

“We will improve on what the past administration has done, we will improve a lot more on that so as to ensure that our citizens go to bed with their eyes closed,” he said.

Mr. Ovie also solicited the cooperation of sister security agencies and the people of the state to realize the mandate of the corps.
