FATHER’S DAY: ANGLICAN BISHOP TASKS MEN ON RESPONSIBLE FATHERHOOD

Fathers have been advised to maintain the dignity of manhood with the fear of the Lord.
The Anglican Bishop of Nnewi Diocese, the Right Reverend Ndubuisi Obi, gave the advice in a message to mark Father’s Sunday.
The Right Reverend Obi, who described the day as a time to celebrate the position and office of fatherhood in the family, the church and the world at large, stressed the need for the people to recognize and appreciate the importance of fathers in the family.
He noted that fathers were expected to exhibit exemplary conduct that would mould children into future leaders, loving their wives unconditionally and providing for the needs of their family.
The Vicar, St. Mary’s Anglican Church Uruagu Nnewi, the Venerable Stanley Awuzie, urged fathers to live up to their responsibility by discouraging their children and wards from engaging in vices cable of destroying their future.
He advised them to obey God and keep His commandments, noting that in return their children would obey them.
He also admonished wives to be submissive to their husbands.
The Venerable Awuzie enjoined men not to fail as breadwinners, and carrying out their duties as responsible heads of their families, noting that God would ask them to give account of their stewardship as fathers on judgment Day.
The cleric tasked fathers to discipline their children whenever they went astray, even as he charged them to always defend their families from external negative influences.
Members of the Cathedral Church of St. Mary, Nnewi, Anglican Communion, rolled out the drums to celebrate fathers in the congregation.
