ONYEAGOCHA, OKEWULONU & ONYERIRI EMERGE IMO PDP SENATORIAL CANDIDATES

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State has held primary elections for its aspirants for the State House of Assembly and National Assembly seats ahead of the 2023 general election.
A former Secretary to the Imo State Government Chief Uche Onyeagocha won the ticket for Imo East Senatorial District after polling 134 votes to defeat the incumbent Senator, Chief Ezenwa Onyewuchi, who scored 110 votes in an election that was conducted under a peaceful atmosphere in Owerri.
Chief Emmanuel Okewulonu defeated Mr. Ifeanyi Ararume Junior to clinch the ticket for Imo North Senatorial district while a former member of the House of Representatives, Chief Jones Onyeriri secured the ticket for Imo West Senatorial district.
Candidates also emerged for the ten federal constituency seats in the green chambers with some of the serving lawmakers securing tickets to return to the House of Representatives.
The Party also concluded that election for candidates that would test their popularity to occupy the 27 seats in the state house of assembly.
Governorship election will not be taking place in Imo during the 2023 general election as the calendar had been altered by the removal of former Governor Emeka Ihedioha, who was replaced by Chief Hope Uzodimma.
The PDP primary election came days after the exercise was held in other states due to controversies arising from the list of delegates to be used for the exercise.
