18 CORPS MEMBERS TO REPEAT SERVICE YEAR IN EBONYI, 25 MORE ON HALF PAY

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has mandated eighteen corps members of Batch A Stream two to repeat their service year in Ebonyi State.
The Coordinator of the Scheme in the State, Mrs. Mercy Bamai, stated this at the passing out parade of the Batch at Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium Abakaliki.
According to the State Coordinator, ten of the sanctioned corps members are females while eight are males who committed sundry offences ranging from abscondment to unauthourized journey.
She said that another twenty-five corps members will serve extension of service year ranging from one to four months on half pay.
Mrs. Bamai charged the passing-out corps members to be the ambassadors of the scheme by engaging in acts that would promote the unity of the country in line with the objectives of NYSC.
The Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief David Umahi, represented by the Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Mr. Charles Akpuenika, noted that the positive impact of the corps members on pupils, students and their host communities was overwhelming.
He charged them to remain steadfast in their commitment to the cause of nation building.
Radio Nigeria gathered that nine hundred and eighty-nine corps members passed out during the ceremony.
