UNIZIK VC, PPRO, OKO POLY REGISTRAR ATTEND NUJ ANAMBRA CONGRESS AS GOV OBIANO DONATES BUS TO UNION

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra State Council, has taken delivery of a brand new 18-seater bus donated to the union by Governor Willie Obiano.

The Chairman, NUJ, Dr. Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, made this known during the congress of the Council held at the Godwin Ezeemo International Press Centre, Awka.

Dr. Odogwu commended the Governor for fulfilling his promise and called for support of all journalists in Anambra State to the government.

The NUJ Chairman assured the government that the union would continue to play advocacy and watchdog roles for the betterment of the society.

Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka Prof. Charles Esimone, who attended the Congress, enjoined journalists to keep on upholding the ethics of the profession in their primary and official duties.

Prof. Esimone pointed out that Unizik had a cordial working relationship with the Anambra State Council of the NUJ, and pledged continuation of the relationship with the new state council.

For his part, the Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, represented by the Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Tochukwu Ikenga, congratulated the new executive officers of NUJ on their emergence and called on journalists to cooperate with them.

He pointed out that the Police Command in the state would collaborate with the union to attain a greater height.

While commending the new chairman of the union, the Director of Fides Newspapers, the Reverend Father Martin Anusi, said that Dr. Odogwu had shown sn example of a good leader by carrying everyone along in his few weeks in office.

While lending his voice, the Acting Registrar of the Federal Polytechnic Oko, Mr. Obini Onuchukwu, urged members to be committed to duties assigned to them.

He advised the Chairman of the union to give listening ear to his members and called for peace in the union.

High points of the event were blessing of the new bus and inauguration of members of the several committes created by the new executive.
