DIRECT PRIMARIES: GOV UMAHI HAILS PRESIDENT BUHARI REJECTION OF ELECTORAL BILL AMENDMENT
REPORTER: AMECHI ODO
Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has commended President Muhamadu Buhari for rejecting to sign Electoral Amendment bill sent to him over the contentious Direct Primaries.
He stated this while receiving the Registrar of National Examination Council, (NECO), Professor Dantani Wushishi, at the Government House, Abakaliki.
Governor Umahi urged the National Assembly members to look deeply into the possibility of direct primaries undermining the nation’s democracy, noting that the issue should be left for political parties to decide.
Professor Wushishi said he was in the state to seek the support of the state government towards completing the project of the Council in the state.
