Anglican Communion in Enugu State has reiterated its call to the State Government to return mission schools in the state to the church to restore their lost glory.

The Church says that the increase in social vices among students in the educational institutions has made the call imperative.

The Archbishop of Enugu Ecclesiastical Province, the Most Reverend Emmanuel Chukwuma, stated this during a service to mark the end of the one week activities mapped out for the commemoration of 50years anniversary of the Anglican Communion, Diocese of Enugu.

He said the takeover of schools by the government had destroyed the set standard and depreciated morality.

The Archbishop maintained that the return of mission schools would help in building a future generation of values-driven and morally sound individuals.

Archbishop Chukwuma appealed to Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to return schools to the church for better management.

The High Priest, equally cautioned Nigerians against using the Christmas season to increase prices of food commodities.

The pioneer Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, the Right Reverend Benson Onyeibor, in a homily, encouraged faithful to keep hope alive despite the challenges they might be passing through.

Among the projects dedicated to mark the 50th anniversary included, a diagnostic centre, Good Shepherd specialist hospital, Bethel home school’s chapel, and hall building.
