USAID DONATES MEDICAL EQUIPMENT TO EBONYI STATE GOVT

Ebonyi State Government has taken delivery of health training equipment and instruction materials worth over One hundred million Naira donated by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The donated Health Training equipment include Fetal Doppler, Deep Contraceptive Implant and Insertion kits, Audible Respiratory Rate Timers, Delivery and Episotomy kits,

Others were Mama Natalie for family planning and Measuring tape for infants. Presenting the equipment in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State Director USAID Integrated Health Programme, Dr. Gladys Olisaeke, explained that the donation was in line with its mandate to scale up high impact interventions and provide technical assistance to health centres and workers of some selected states across the country.

She noted that the equipment and manuals would be distributed to 171 Primary Health Centres and 27 hospitals in the state while training would be provided to health workers on thematic areas of Family planning, maternal and new born child health. Receiving the medical equipment, the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Daniel Umezuruike, noted that the equipment would help to further reduce maternal, infant mortality and morbidity at the grass roots.

Dr. Umezuruike noted that the partnership between Ebonyi State Government and USAID had attracted huge investment to the sector and assured the agency of effective utilization of the equipment at primary health centres.

The Health Commissioner also told journalists that the state government had received the second batch of the COVID-19 vaccines while jabbing would soon commence across the state.
