WE ARE TAKING STEPS TO RECOVER ALL ILLEGALLY ACQUIRED LANDS, QUERIED V.C. IMSU – Emelumba Brief Newsmen

The Imo State government says it is taking steps to recover all government lands illegally acquired or allocated to individuals. The State Commissioner for Information and Strategy Mr. Declan Emelumba disclosed this while briefing Newsmen at the end of a state executive council meeting in Owerri.
He said council also frowned at nonpayment of February salary to staff of Imo state university despite releasing January and February subventions to the school and consequently directed that a query be issued to the Vice Chancellor Professor Adaobi Obasi for explanation.
Mr. Emelumba noted that the government had ordered the immediate suspension of the services of a company allegedly owned by one of the sons of the Vice Chancellor which collects fees for the university and other state owned institutions. He announced that the government had paid salaries of its workers up to May noting that anyone who has not received his or her salary might have issues with bank verification number or employment history.
The commissioner said that the government has scheduled to meet with stakeholders in the education sector to ensure that students and pupils in graduating classes return to school soonest.
