NINE PERSONS KILLED, HOUSES, LIVESTOCK, FARM PRODUCE BURNT IN EBONYI-BENUE COMMUNAL CRISIS

Police in Ebonyi State say at least nine persons have been killed in Ngbo Community, Ohaukwu Local Government Area of the state following the invasion of the area by unknown gun men. The Police Public Relations Officer in the State, Mrs. Loveth Odah. explained that one of the survivors of the attack was receiving treatment at a hospital while the Commissioner of Police had visited the area.

Speaking with journalists, the Chairman of Ohaukwu Local Government Area, Mr. Clement Odah, attributed the attack to the lingering boundary crisis between the people of Ngbo in Ebonyi State and Agila in Ado Local Government Area of Benue State. He urged the National Boundary Commission to urgently demarcate the contentious boundary line for lasting peace in the area.

Radio Nigeria gathered that some of the victims of the attack were beheaded while houses, livestock and yam bans were set ablaze.
