EBONYI STATE GOVERNOR BANS WAKE BEYOND 10PM, ORDERS ARREST OF YOUTHS WHO BLOCKED CONVOY
Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has ordered security agencies to arrest and prosecute youths who blocked his convoy and snatched a gun belonging to one of his escort soldiers in Onicha Local Government Area of the state.
Speaking at Government House Abakaliki, Governor Umahi, explained that he was returning to the capital city from his hometown in Uburu when the incident occurred.
The Governor noted that despite retinue of soldiers and police in his convoy, the youth, who were said to be observing a wake, refused to open the road until he ordered for their arrest.
Governor Umahi warned that he would not tolerate such illegality in the state and banned wake from lasting beyond ten o’clock in the night unless with a written permission from Local Government Chairmen.
