The Abia Automated Shoe Factory is to commence operation by December 2019.
This followed the completion of the building for the factory alongside acquisition of the machines needed for smooth takeoff of production.
Conducting journalists round the machines at Government Lodge Aba, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu said a memorandum of understanding had been signed with a Chinese firm.
Governor Ikpeazu explained that production of military boots and other categories of high quality shoes would be accorded priority.
