SECURITY CHALLENGES: DIALOGUE WITH YOUTHS —NGO TELLS FG

A nongovernmental organization championing the course of Ndigbo, “Odinala Cultural Heritage Foundation,” has advocated national dialogue among the youths to find lasting solutions to insecurity and other challenges facing the nation.

Chairman Board of Trustees of the group, Mr. Chinedum Okoro, made the call while speaking to journalists shortly after a meeting of the organization in Owerri.

Mr. Okoro said emerging challenges had made it imperative for young people, whose future were being threatened by actions of those that did not mean well for the nation, to have a round table on how to tackle insurgency, banditry, kidnapping, herdsmen, farmers clashes, among other issues.

Mr. Okoro noted that the organization, also known as “Ochie Igbo,” had undertaken a study on ways of addressing insecurity in the land and called on youth organizations to embrace the call for national dialogue.

Mr. Okoro called on traditional rulers to rise to their responsibilities of maintaining peace in the communities.

The Odinala Cultural Heritage Foundation Board of Trustees Chairman noted that Ndigbo had traditional ways of checking insecurity and called for the revival of the cultural heritage.

He also urged the Federal Government to confront herders and farmers clashes dispassionately to ensure equity and fairness.
