EFCC SEEKS SUPPORT OF CITIZENS IN THE FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION

Nigerians are urged to shun corruption to sustain democratic values and rule of law.

The Zonal Head of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) South East Zone, Mr. Usman Imam, stated this in Enugu after a road walk to commemorate the International Day against Corruption.

Mr. Imam noted that corruption did not only deny citizens their basic rights and access to basic amenities but eroded people’s trust in the justice, political and economic systems.

He said the mandate of commission was to sensitize and enlighten the public to the need to collectively participate in the fight against corruption.

The road walk started from the EFCC premises through ESBS Junction to Nkpokiti Round about, through Okpara Square and back to the premises.

The staff of the commission and the sister agencies that participated in the road walk were seen carrying placards with inscriptions “See something, Say Something and Do Something,” “Economic and Financial Crime is a Crime against Humanity,” among many others.

The theme of the 2019International Day against Corruption is “say no to corruption, every no counts.”
