ORGANISED LABOUR IN IMO SET TO DOWN TOOLS

The organized labour in Imo state says it has fully mobilized its affiliate bodies in the area to commence warning strike by midnight today as directed by the national leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress.

The State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress Comrade Austin Chilakpu stated this while speaking with newsmen in Owerri.

He expressed dismay over what he described as insensitivity of the government on the plight of workers.

Comrade Chilakpu said he was collaborating with the Trade Union Congress and the Civil Liberty Organizations to ensure full compliance to the seat at home order.

The Vice President Nigeria Union of Journalists South East Zone C Mr. Christopher Isiguzo urged Journalists to comply with the directive of the organized labour to down tools.

Mr. Isiguzo said the issue of workers welfare and special salary for media workers must be looked into by the government to ameliorate the sufferings of journalists in the country.

Mr. Isiguzo however called on Journalists who may be covering the strike to maintain objectivity in their reportage.
