A panel of inquiry to look into the challenges facing Mkpunando, Omoh-Igba Akwu communities has been constituted.

Inaugurating the panel at Government House Awka, Governor Willie Obiano said that the panel would look into the state of restiveness in the affected communities, which he said if left unchecked might escalate to a breakdown of law and order as well as possible loss of lives.

Inaugurating the panel, Governor Willie Obiano spelt out that one of their mandates was to examine the remote and immediate causes of the crisis in the area, including allegations of sale of communal lands by traditional ruler and others, misappropriation of funds among others.

He urged the committee to come up with recommendations that would reconcile the various factions and restore lasting peace to the communities.

Governor Obiano promised the people of the communities that any one found wanting would face the full weight of the law.

In a speech, Chairman of the committee, retired Justice Ngozi Umeh, while commending the Governor for the confidence reposed in them, pledged to carry out their task with utmost sincerity.

The committee, which is made up of traditional rulers and top government officials, has one month to submit it’s reports to the Government.
