NYSC DEPLOYS 1,667 YOUTH CORPS MEMBERS TO ABIA

The Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, says the National Youth Service Corps NYSC since its establishment 51 years ago has remained relevant in the life circle of the country.

Governor Otti stated this in a message to the swearing-in of NYSC 2024 batch B stream 1 corps members deployed to serve in Abia State at the permanent Orientation Camp in Umunna Bende Local Government Area of the state.

Governor Otti represented by the Deputy Governor, Mr. Ikechukwu Emetu, noted that the orientation course had been packaged to equip corps members for the task of nation building and challenges that might lay ahead of them during their service year.

He assured the.corps members of his administration’s commitment towards providing them with the needed atmosphere to serve.

Earlier, the Coordinator NYSC Abia State, Mrs. Gladys Adama, said that the scheme was established to foster unity and integration among Nigerian youths and urged the corps members to put in their best during the orientation course.

She pointed out that at the end of the programmme, they would be posted to nooks and crannies of the state to serve.

Radio Nigeria gathered that 1,667 corps members were sworn-in by Justice Collington Okoroafor, who represented the state Chief Judge.
