REPORTER: LAWRENCE NWOKEDI

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Abia State command says it has deployed over 500 regular and 300 special Marshalls to ensure free flow of traffic on the road during and after the Eid-El kabir celebration in the state.

The Sector Commander of the Corps, Mr. Fredrick Ogidan, announced this during a Press Conference held at the command’s headquarters in Umuahia.

He noted that “the Corps has the mandate of ensuring that road crashes are reduced to the barest minimum” and urged motorists to always obey traffic rules while on the road.

Mr. Ogidan listed dangerous driving, over speeding, use of phone while driving, over loading and non maintenace of vehicles as some of the causes of road crashes.

In their separate contributions, the representatives of the Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps and the Abia State Fire Service pledged to partner FRSC in their efforts towards reducing crashes on the road.
