ZD FRCN ENUGU NAT STATION EARNS AWARD OF EXCELLENCE FROM ALVAN IKOKU FED UNI, OWERRI

African leaders have been enjoined to invest more in science-based research that will ensure that digitization of the economy does not pose health hazards or threaten people’s means of livelihood.

A professor of Sustainable Development at the University of Edinburgh, United Kingdom, Mr. Kenneth Amaechi, made the call at a workshop and award ceremony held at the Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education Owerri.

He said though the digital economy was necessary to meet with modern challenges, the academia had a duty to ensure that the society struck a balance between the gains and challenges posed by the use of computers and artificial intelligence.

The Zonal Director Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN South East, Mr. Ikechukwu Eze, who was honoured with an award of Excellence by the University, described the theme of the Conference “Digitization and Energy in Education system for sustainable development as apt and urged the academia to pay more attention to contemporary issues in modern technology.

Mr. Eze, was represented by the General Manager Radio Nigeria Heartland FM Owerri, Mr. Kenechukwu Ndulewe-Anyanwu, who described the award as well deserved.

He noted that the innovations brought by the awardee has repositioned the corporation to attain greater heights.

The Acting Vice Chancellor of Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education Owerri, Professor Stella Lemchi, commended the Faculty of General Education for organizing the programme and added that the Institution would continue to promote academic excellence.

This is the second award received by the Zonal Director within one year.
