Anambra Youth Associations have declined their participation in the nationwide protest designated that commenced today, August 1, 2024.

The various youth associations in Anambra State who gathered at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia to announce non-participation in the exercise said that they were aware of the economic situation of the country but expressed fears of hijack and violence.

According to the groups, Nigerians may not be capable to undertake a peaceful protest.

One of the youth leaders and President of the Anambra State Association of Town Unions, (Youth Wing), Mr. Ken Okoli, said that no youth in the state should be involved in the protest, pointing out there might be infiltration leading to violence.

For his part, the representative of the National Association of Nigerian Students, Mr Matthew Okpala, argued that the protest would not be in favour of students as it might disrupt their academic calendar and expressed solidarity with the leadership in the state.
