REPORTER: AMECHI ODO

Ebonyi State Government says it is ready to complete the processes of handing over the operations of Chuba Okadigbo International Airport Onueke to the Federal Government following the completion of the reconstruction work on its runway.

The Commissioner for Aviation and Transport Technology in the state, Dr. Ngozi Obichukwu, announced this during an inspection tour of the completed runway.

She pointed out that the reconstruction of the runway measuring 3.1kms from concrete pavement to asphalt was done to international standard noting that flight operations would resume after the inauguration of the project by President Bola Tinubu.

Dr. Obichukwu said the state government had concluded an arrangement to float an airline with the procurement of four aircrafts while hangers and other ancillary facilities would be constructed for full operation of the airport.

Ebonyi State Government embarked on the reconstruction of the runway after flight operators complained about its rough and undulated surface which was done with concrete pavement.
