REPORTER: JOHN MADUAGWU

The second panel handling National and State House of Assembly election petitions in Abia State has consolidated three petitions challenging the outcome of the Abia Central Senatorial election in the 2023 general election.

The consolidated matters are the petitions filed by Chief Sam Onuigbo of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Ahamdi Nweke of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and Chief Augustine Akobundu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against Mr. Darlington Nwokocha of the Labour Party (LP) who was declared winner of the election.

Justice Hajaratu Lawal gave the order during the pre hearing session in the petition filed by Chief Akobundu against Mr. Nwokocha following an application for consolidation made by counsel to the Labour Party and its candidate, Mr. Nnamdi Nwokocha-Ahaiwe.

Justice Lawal also fixed the eleventh, twelfth and thirteenth of July for hearing in the petition.
