TINUBU’S POLICIES WILL EVENTUALLY STABILIZE THE ECONOMY – SEN KEN EZE

The lawmaker representing Ebonyi Central Senatorial Zone, Senator Ken Eze has appealed to the people of Ebonyi State and Nigerians in general to exercise patience with the federal government over the hardship being experienced, noting that the measures taken by the present administration will later stabilize the economy.
Senator Eze made the appeal while speaking with Radio Nigeria on the #Endbadgovernance protest going on in some parts of the country.
The Senator, while commending the people of Ebonyi State and South East zone as a whole for not participating in the protest, explained that it was the policies and activities of the past administration that cumulatively led to the present high cost of living in the country.
“It is not the intention of the President to suffer the people, he is not the one that created these challenges. It is what has been accumulated over period of time and it has come to the elasticity point where the country cannot absorb the problem any longer and it busted and he is trying to manage it.
“Let me tell you, the country has been living on borrowing and no economy survives on borrowing; all our revenue is used to service debt. You’re used to hear about non-payment of salary, some states not being able to pay and that was the worst of it all. But now it’s no longer the case,” he argued.
Senator Eze, who is the Senate Committee Chairman on Information, insisted that the removal of fuel subsidy is even the reason the economy had not totally crumbled as states now have more money to address their financial challenges, unlike the situation in the recent past.
“There were so many leakages embedded in that fuel subsidy. We were subsidizing fuel being smuggled to neighbouring countries, that’s why he immediately removed the fuel subsidy. Without the removal people don’t really understand there won’t be money to pay workers salary. Even in your state today, the governor is able to do all what he is doing – the empowerment programme – all this is because there is fund,” he remarked.
Senator Eze gave an assurance that the policies of the President Tinubu led administration would eventually stabilize the economy and encouraged people of Ebonyi State to support the government of the day to deliver on its mandate.
