REPORTER: PEACE AGBO

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chief Benjamin Kalu, has congratulated Nigerian Muslims as they join their counterparts across the globe to celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Kabir.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Levinus Nwabughiogu, Chief Kalu called on Muslim faithful and other Nigerians to pursue unity and national cohesion.

Chief Kalu urged Nigerians to cultivate virtuous qualities and build a compassionate society where there would be no discriminations irrespective of religious and ethnic backgrounds.

The statement reminded Nigerians that sacrifice was the cornerstone of the celebration and encouraged them to eschew selfishness.

It also enjoined Muslims to imbibe the teachings of Prophet Mohammed, whose life provided a profound example of moral excellence, compassion, and leadership that transcends religious boundaries.

The statement said the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had been working assiduously to better the lot of the citizenry through his Renewed Hope agenda even as he called for persistent prayers for leaders at all levels of government.
