POLICE REACT AS ANAMBRA STATE GOVT IMPOSES 21-YEAR JAIL TERM ON CULTISTS

The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Mr. Nnaghe Itam has commended the State Government and State House of Assembly for passing and signing into law a 21-year minimum jail term with no option of fine on any person found culpable of cult-related activities.

Mr. Itam also observed that the state government approved the legal confinement of six months or the option to pay half a million naira on anyone harassing innocent individuals to obtain illegal tolls, illegal scalpers, or any related activities in the state.

He noted that these developments would further reecho the campaign and stand against touting and cultism in the state which the Police were championing.

Mr. Itam noted that Police’s Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices was targeteded to sensitize the youths to the dangers of bad groups, illicit drugs and other vices.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr Tochukwu Ikenga, in a statement said Mr. Itam also urged parents and guardians to admonish their children and wards to avoid getting involved in crimes.
