POLICE NAB SUSPECTED KILLERS OF PG IN ANAMBRA STATE

Police Detectives of Anambra State Command working with the Vigilance group in Umuoji Community have apprehended the suspected killers of the town’s President-General, Chief Silas Onyima.

Chief Onyima was murdered in his home in Umuoji last Friday.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Tochukwu Ikenga, said four suspects had been arrested so far.

It noted that the handset and ATM card of the deceased were recovered from the suspects.

According to the statement, the suspects in their confession statement, named four other accomplices who are now being hunted for by the Police.

The statement said the Commissioner of Police commended Police personnel in Ogidi and Umuoji Vigilantes for working together to apprehend the suspected perpetrators.

It said the Commissioner directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to deploy its Forensic Team to the crime scene and take over the investigation.

The statement also said the Commissioner of Police had mandated the Homicide Team in State CID to apprehend the four accomplices still on the run and unravel the motive behind the gruesome murder.

It added that the Commissioner of Police assured Presidents-General across the state that their safety was of primary concern to the Police as representatives of their communities.
