About eight hundred and fifty six National Youth Service Corps members took oath of allegiance administered to them by the Chief Judge of Ebonyi State, Justice Elvis Ngene, who was represented by Justice Vincent Nwachor.

Brigadier General Muhammad Fadah explained that legislative processes towards the passage of a bill for the establishment of NYSC Trust Fund had reached advanced stage.

Represented by the State Coordinator of the Scheme, Mrs, Bamai Mercy, the Director General noted that the passage of the Trust Fund Bill would reposition the Scheme for the realization of its set objective.

Brigadier General Fadah warned the Corps members to be security conscious and extolled the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control for its continued support towards the safe conduct of the Orientation Course within the new normal.

‘’May I appeal for the support of all stakeholders in the call for the establishment of the NYSC Trust Fund, which has reached advanced stage of legislation.

“This will enhance the smooth operations of the scheme, especially by addressing the challenges of infrastructure and providing start-up capital for corps members,’’ he stated.

Two new corps members, who did not mention their names, described the Scheme as a veritable platform for strengthening the bond of unity among the youths of the country and thanked the Federal Government for its sustenance.

‘’But mingling with people of same culture and other tribes is a very wonderful experience and i am very happy and grateful to be here,” one of the corps members said.

‘’Without NYSC, I don’t think I will actually ever step foot in the East but NYSC has brought me here to serve my fatherland and I am very happy to be here,’’, the other corps member remarked.

They promised to pay adequate attention to the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Programme, which form part of the Orientation Course.
