NSCDC PERSONNEL SHOTS DRIVER TO DEATH IN ABIA STATE

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) Abia State Command says any of its member found to have violated the rules guiding the use of firearms will be sanction. The Commandant of the Corps in the State, Mr. Nnamdi Nwannukwu, made this known while speaking with Radio Nigeria in Umuahia on the alleged shooting of a driver by a member of the Corps.

The incident occurred at Umuekea Junction in Isialangwa North Local Government Area while enforcing the prevailing lockdown in the state.

Mr. Nwannukwu noted that the incident occurred when a driver of a vehicle was stopped at a check point by men of the corps on the express way.

According to the Commandant, the driver of the vehicle rather than stopping the car decided to speed off in order to beat the security men at the check point.

He noted that it was during the process that one of the officers fired a shot that hit the driver and killed him.

Mr. Nwannukwu stated that the officer had been arrested while investigation into the incident had commenced.
