NDLEA SEIZES OVER 80KG OF NARCOTICS IN EBONYI

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Ebonyi State Command has seized 82.5 kilogrammes of narcotics within the last five months in the state.

The State Commander of the Agency, Mr. Peter Ogar, announced this at the commemoration of this year’s International Day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking in Abakaliki.

He noted that the Command also arrested 139 suspects for committing various drug related offences.

The State Commander said of the number, 13 suspects were convicted while other cases were pending at the Federal High Court Abakalik.

The Wife of the State Governor, Mrs. Mary Maudline Nwifuru, who attended the event, commended the Agency for its exploits and called for partnership between her BERWO Foundation and the Agency towards the eradication of drug abuse in the communities.

There were sensitization to the effects of drug abuse among the youth, especially crystal meth, known in local parlance as Nkpurumiri.
