MILLIONS GONE AS FIRE GUTS WAREHOUSE IN ANAMBRA

Fire has destroyed goods worth millions of naira at a warehouse in Obodoukwu Road, Okpoko in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The fire which started at about 8am on Monday caused panic among the residents, as they called fire service toll free lines for assistance.

The Anambra State Fire Service reportedly responded swiftly as they arrived with their truck and personnel to control the fire.

The Fire Director in the state, Mr. Chukwudi Chiketa, told Radio Nigeria that the cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained.

He, however, suggested that the incident might not be far from power surge.

Mr. Chiketa advised residents of the state to be vigilante at all times, irrespective of the season, as fire could breakout even during rainy season.

In an Interview, the member representing Ogbaru Constituency 1 in the state assembly, Mr. Noble Igwe, described the fire as unfortunate but commended the state fire service for responding promptly when he alerted them of the incident.

Radio Nigeria observed that police personnel were on ground to ensure that some hoodlums did not take advantage of the situation to loot wares and goods of the traders.
