IPMAN MOVES AGAINST ADULTRATED PETROLEUM PRODUCTS IN SOUTH EAST

REPORTER: UCHE NDEKE

Independent Petroleum Marketers (IPMAM) in South East Zone say they will partner the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in the fight against distribution and sales of adulterated products.

The Chairman of IPMAN, Enugu Depot Community, which is in charge of Anambra, Ebonyi and Enugu State, Mr. Chinedu Anyaso, made this known in a press briefing in Awka, Anambra State.

Mr. Anyaso said the leadership of IPMAN in the Southeast had met with the Enugu Zonal Office of EFCC with a view to exploring areas of collaboration.

He expressed worry that adulterated products were gradually finding their way into filling stations and the association would not want the unhealthy development to continue.

Mr. Anyaso warned marketers against dealing in such illegal business while assuring the public that any member found wanting would be handed over to law enforcement agencies for prosecution.

The IPMAN Chairman said apart from marketers’ efforts to make products available at the cheapest prices, they would also ensure that customers were protected from buying unwholesome products, which would harm their vehicles and machines.

He acknowledged that the distribution and sales of illegally refined products in the country was on the increase, attributing it to artificial scarcity and price hike.
