HELP COMPLETE PERIMETER FENCING OF OUR ALMA MATER — GOVT COLLEGE UMUAHIA OLD BOYS ASSOCIATION BEGS OTTI

The National Executive Council of Government College Umuahia Old Boys Association says it will continue to give back to the society, especially its alma mater.
The National President of the Old Boys Association, Dr. Chinedum Ahaiwe, stated this when he led some executive members of the Association to visit Governor Alex Otti of Abia State at the Government House, Umuahia.
Dr. Ahaiwe expressed satisfaction with Governor Otti’s infrastructural transformation in the state and the restoration of the school’s land.
The National President appealed for continuous partnership with the state government to complete the reconstruction of the perimeter fence of their alma mater.
Dr. Ahaiwe pleaded for deployment of security personnel to forestall obstruction of the fencing project by the neighbouring communities, who attempted to encroach on the premises of the college.
He thanked the Governor for appointing experts, including some their old boys, into his government.
Governor Otti was represented by his Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, who stressed the need for Alumni of various institutions to always give back to their alma mater as a way of impacting the society positively.
Pastor Caleb Ajagba, said that no system could develop except those who had benefitted from it learn to give back and expressed joy that Government College Umuahia Old Boys Association members were doing a lot to impact their alma mater positively.
He expressed regret with the neglect and decadence in the state’s education sector before assumption of office.
The Chief of Staff noted that the state Governor had last year declared a state of emergency on education as no nation could make headway without good education.
Pastor Ajagba commened the old boys of Government College, Umuahia for joining in Governor Otti’s vision to transform the education sector and assured them of the state government’s support.
