GUNMEN KILL 8 IN ANAMBRA COMMUNITIES

About eight persons, including security personnel, have been allegedly killed when yet to be identified gunmen attacked Nnewi and Nnobi on Monday.

Many persons reportedly sustained bullet wounds.

Some eyewitnesses narrated that the hoodlums, who came in a black Landcruiser SUV, attacked Nnewi vigilance vehicle, leaving two persons dead.

A Security Supervisor in Nnobi, Mr. Chigbogu Ezeonwu, said that they were outside when the vehicle occupied by armed men opened fire on them leaving two of the security operatives seriously injured.

He narrated that the gunmen proceeded to a burial ceremony and also shot dead two other persons.

He said they later drove to Afor Nnobi and shot dead three security personnel before getting to Ahuda where one other person was killed.

According to the security supervisor, the injured persons were rushed to Nnamdi Azikiwe Teaching Hospital , Nnewi for medical attention.

When contacted the Police Public Relations Officer in Anambra State, Mr. Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the attack but said he was yet to get the full details of what happened as at the time of filling this report.
