FRCN’S OBY ARINZE INSTALLED AS 23RD PRESIDENT ROTARY CLUB OF ONITSHA

Rotary Club of Onitsha Metropolis plans to sponsor 20 indigent school children in various secondary schools as part of its scholarship programme to promote education.

The President of the organization, Mrs. Obiageli Arinze announced this at a ceremony to mark her installation as the 23rd president of the club.

Mrs. Arinze, who is a News staff of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Purity FM Awka, Enugu National Station, enjoined public spirited citizens to support the organization in its efforts to impact the lives of the needy in society.

The president highlighted other programmes and projects which the club intended to undertake during her tenure.

They include environmental fumigation in all markets in Onitsha and micro credit scheme to empower women.

Mrs. Arinze expressed her determination to increase the organization’s impact on the lives of people in Onitsha Metropolis and its environs through their professional and vocational training programmes, as well as business development, education and health support projects.

In a speech, the Senior Special Assistant to the Anambra State Governor on Security, Mr. Chiejina Obieze, applauded the club for keying into the free education policy of the Professor Chukwuma Soludo-led administration, and pledged to partner the club to enable it to succeed.

Also, the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Anambra State, Mr. Adeoye Irelewuyi, recounted the impact of Rotary International in the society, and urged the new president and her members to sustain the legacy of selfless service to humanity

Highlights of the event were the installation, awards and free medical outreach.
