FG DISTRIBUTES RICE TO VULNERABLE CITIZENS IN AWKA

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu says his administration will continue to accord priority to the plight of the vulnerable in society.

President Tinubu stated this in a message to the distribution of palliative held at Umudioka village, Awka in Awka South local government area of Anambra State.

Represented by the Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs. Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, President Tinubu noted that the distribution of over 5,000 ten kilogramme of rice was meant to give succour to the less-privileged and vulnerable who are mostly hit by the current hardship in the country.

Mrs. Kennedy-Ohanenye said the President appealed to Nigerians to be patient with his administration, especially with the fiscal measures put in place by his administration.

The Minister noted that some of the policies and measures put in place would soon start to yield positive results, stressing that the pains being experienced by the people were temporary.

She said the Integrity Ambassador and Integrity Brigade would take off to ensure compliance with some fundamental reforms introduced by President Tinubu led administration.

The Minister also said the groups would ensure attitudinal change by Nigerians as mobile courts would be constituted to champion compliance.

Mrs. Kennedy-Ohanenye revealed that federal government was planning social security initiatives to address some financial challenges confronting vulnerable Nigerians who had long been shortchanged and oppressed.

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State, represented by the Commissioner of Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Ify Obinabo appreciated the federal government for working hard to reduce the burden most Nigerians are currently experiencing.

In a remark, the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State, Chief Basil Ejidike, commended the President for considering the plight of the vulnerable in society and pledged the total support of the people to his administration.

Beneficiaries of the rice, including Mrs. Nwaka Umeh and Kelechi Iloh, claimed they were satisfied with the way the president had been piloting the affairs of the country since his inauguration last year.
