FG BEGINS CONSTRUCTION OF OVER N60 BILLION SOLAR PLANT IN ENUGU

The Federal Government has commenced construction of over sixty billion naira Solar Panel Photovoltaic, PV Module Assembling Plant at Ihunekwagu Akpugo, Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State.

At the foundation laying of the project, the Minister of Science, Innovation and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji, said the Solar Panel Photovoltaic, PV Module Assembling Plant would create employment for the people of the South East Zone.

Chief Nnaji noted that the assembling plant was not just a technological advancement but a testament to dedication to forstering home grown innovation and self-reliance.

He explained that the construction of the plant aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.

The Minister added that the solar plant, which would be built in the six geo-political zones in the country to address energy deficit, would also create employment for the unemployed youths.

In a remark the Director General, Energy Commission of Nigeria, Dr Mustapha Abdullahi, explained that the project would not only reduce over dependence on importation of PV modules but would significantly lower the cost of it, making solar energy more accessible to every household.

The Project Committee Chairman of the solar plant, Mr. Chijioke Nnaji, also remarked that the project would be a catalyst which would stimulate the economy of the country.

There were goodwill messages from different agencies, parastatals and commissions where they took turns to explain the inherent benefits of the Solar plant to the people of the South East Zone.
