FG BEGINS 250 MASS HOUSING PROJECT IN ABIA

The Federal Government has commenced construction of 250 housing units under the Renewed Hope Housing Programme in Abia State.

Performing the ground breaking ceremony in Umuoche, Bende Local Government Area of the state, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Mr. Ahmed Musa Dangwa, explained that the 250 housing units were part of the 50,000 housing units to be delivered across the country by President Bola Tinubu administration.

The Minister noted that the housing units in Abia State would include 50 units of one bedroom semi-detached bungalow, 150 units of two bedroom semi-detached bungalow and 50 units of three bedroom semi-detached bungalow.

Mr. Dangwa said the construction of the project was billed to be completed in three months and called on the contractors handling the project to work according to specifications while pointing out that the federal government was determined to fulfil the promises it made to Nigerians.

In a message, Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, represented by his Deputy, Chief Ikechukwu Emetu, expressed happiness that Abia State was among the states to benefit from the project, pointing out that the project would create jobs and other opportunities for residents of the state.

The Commissioner for Lands and Housing in the state, Mr Chaka Chukwumerije, said the state was also complimenting what the federal government was doing in the housing sector by ensuring availability of housing for citizens.

The Minister of Housing and Urban Development also inspected the site for the construction of Federal Secretariat in Umuahia.
