EMBRACE FARMING— SOLUDO’S WIFE ADMONISHES ANAMBRA RESIDENTS

REPORTER: UCHE NDEKE

Nigerians have been urged to embrace farming and healthy life style to guarantee food security and healthy living in the country.

Wife of the Anambra State Governor, Mrs. Nonye Soludo, made the call during an event held at the Professor Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre, Awka.

According to Mrs. Soludo, embracing agriculture, especially backyard farming, will bring to an end the increasing cost of foods and high level of hunger in Nigeria.

Mrs. Soludo noted that healthy living is key to long life and prosperity if only the people could avoid chemical and inorganic foods.

The Wife of the Governor, who noted that the present administration in Anambra State was working tirelessly to revive the agricultural sector through the distribution of relevant crops and improved seedlings, said so far organic hybrid seeds like water melon, tomatoes, carrot, pepper, and cucumber were also being circulated to residents.

In a remark, the State Commissioner for Health Dr. Afam Obidike, urged residents to make regular health checks to prevent silent killers, diseases and extend their life span.

Dr. Obidike appealed to residents to visit the healthcare centres within their vicinities as the state government had upgraded them with equipment and personnel.

At the event, the wife of the Governor distributed bags of rice, beans, red oil, seedlings and a wheel chair to one of the physically challenged persons that attended the event with the assistance of his mother.
