EBONYI POLICE STATION ATTACK: DEATH TOLL INCREASES, SOME HOSPITALISED

The number of hoodlums killed following an attack on Ishieke Police Station last night has risen to six while one that fled with bullet wound is been trailed.

Investigations by Radio Nigeria revealed that while five of them were gunned down inside their operational vehicle during an ambush, the corpse of one was said to have been recovered from a nearby bush.

It was also gathered that about five persons were cut in a cross fire between the suspected hoodlums and combined Security Operatives deployed for counter offensive at Ishieke- Odomoke Road in Ebonyi Local Government Area.

Those hit by bullets are said to be receiving treatment at a hospital in Abakaliki while the remains of the suspected hoodlums have been deposited in the mortuary.

Though the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Joshua Ukandu, was yet to release official statement on the incident , it was further gathered that part of the Police Station at Ishieke and two vehicles were set ablaze.

Meanwhile, the attack on Ishieke Police Station was coming barely few hours after the arrival of the wife of the Inspector General of Police, Mrs Elizabeth Egbetokun who is in Ebonyi State for an empowerment programme.
