REPORTER: KEVIN EKEDIEGWU

The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Anambra State, Mr. Maku Olatunde, has charged officers and men of the command to remain steadfast in the discharge of their duties.

He gave the charge when he paid a visit to the Forward Operating Base (FOB) of the Joint Task Force in Aguata.

Mr. Olatunde explained that the visit was to boost the morale of the troops, assess the conduct of operations and familiarize himself with the needs of the operating base.

The NSCDC boss, who said the visit was also to provide guidance on the ongoing war against terror, reiterated the NSCDC’s commitment to supporting the Joint Task Force in achieving its objectives.

He commended the on-duty security personnel for their exemplary resilience and sacrifice in the fight against terrorism and insurgency in the state.

Mr. Maku assured them of prompt support from the Joint Service Commanders to effectively counter the infiltration of undesirable elements in the state.

The State Commandant wished an injured NSCDC personnel receiving treatment at the base speedy recovery and assured him that the corps would provide all necessary medical assistance to him.

In a statement, the Public Relations Officer of the Corps in the state, Mr. Edwin Okadigbo, said Mr Olatunde concluded his visit with a stop over at the NSCDC Aguata Divisional office, where he challenged them not to rest on their oars until crime was brought to its knees in the state.
