17 YEAR OLD GIRL MURDERED IN EBONYI COMMUNITY

A seventeen year old girl has allegedly been raped and murdered by an unknown person at Agbabor in Isu, Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

The girl, who was seen on a trending picture lying lifeless on firewood with her throat slit, was said to be returning to her home from a neighbouring village when she was attacked.

Reacting to the development, Ebonyi State Government described the killing of the girl as unacceptable but debunked allegations that it was carried out by herdsmen.

A statement by the State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Uchenna Orji, noted that herdsmen were not residing in the area and appealed for calm in the community.

Confirming the incident to journalists, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Chris Anyanwu, said the girl’s pants was missing when her remains were found, which suggested that she was probably raped before being killed.

He emphasised that efforts were on to fish out the killers.
