CHIEF OF ARMY STAFF INAUGURATES PROJECTS IN ABIA COMMUNITY

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, says the Army is committed not only to protecting the country’s territorial integrity but providing basic amenities that will impact greatly in the lives of the people, especially those in the rural areas.

General Laghaja made this known while inaugurating the Chief of Army Staff Special Intervention Civil-Military Cooperation projects built at Ekeoba-Oriendu in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State.

The four projects inaugurated were a cottage hospital, a borehole, transformer and a multi-purpose hall.

He noted that the Nigerian Army had undertaken over 200 intervention projects across the six geo-political zones of the country and had also significantly contributed to a non-kinetic efforts towards managing the country’s security challenges.

The Chief of Army Staff used the occasion to thanked President Bola Tinubu for his continuous strategic ideas and support to the Nigerian Army.

The Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, represented by the Deputy Governor Mr Ikechukwu Emetu, lauded the Nigerian Army for their solidarity, understanding and support to the socio-infrastructural development of the state.

The Governor noted that the projects, which were built in the community were products of healthy symbiotic relationship between the Military and the civilians.

The Senator representing Abia Central Senatorial District Senator, Austin Akobundu, lauded the Nigerian Army for establishing the projects and stating that it would go along way in ameliorating the plights of people in the area.

Earlier in an address, the Project Executor and Director General, Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre, Major General Obinna Ajunwa, said that the projects would further enhance the image of the Nigerian Army and commended the Chief of Army Staff for instituting the programme.
